Cycle Sisters at the Start Point

For the first time ever, Cycle Sisters travelled up to the Scottish Highlands to take part in one of the UK’s most scenic cycle events - the Etape Caledonia.

In total 17 women from Cycle Sisters took part, and for many of them it was their favourite cycling event to date.

The routes ranged from 40 up to 85 miles, with the 85 mile route totalling almost 5000 feet of elevation!

“It was great to represent female Muslim cyclists participating in the Etape event. We were in the minority, however other cyclists were highly impressed and curious with us participating, we certainly made an impact on the event!

“I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, cycling with the other sisters, encouraging and supporting each other. The route was breathtaking with some excruciating hills, yet exhilarating and worth the pain! Thank you Cycle Sisters for the opportunity.” Zameera

“This event was the best I have taken part in to date. The route, the sisterhood and the whole experience was friendly and exhilarating. Seeing so many Cycle Sisters taking part along the route was a real joy and I formed new bonds with sisters I didn’t know before. I highly recommend taking part in this fabulous event, just go for it, you won’t be disappointed!” Anisah

“Alhamdulillah it was a great experience, the route had epic views, riders were friendly and marshals were encouraging throughout the ride and the break stops had healthy snacks for us to eat. I felt so proud to represent Cycle Sisters when there were a number of riders asking questions about what we offer as a group and how we run our sessions back in London.” Shamsia

Not only was the event an incredible experience for the Cycle Sisters who took part, but Cycle Sisters’ presence at the event also had a positive impact, demonstrating that cycling is for everyone!

Thank you to Motiv Sports for providing us with places for the event and thank you to Fund Her Tri for all of your support.

The women of Cycle Sisters are looking forward to taking part in the Etape Caledonia again next year.
